Front Desk

Responsibilities:

  • Function in primary reception role for program participants, volunteers and other visitors to the office

  • Ensure front desk is staffed during assigned weekly hours

  • Maintain a clean, welcoming and informative environment in the office reception area

  • Responsible for the office procedures at the beginning & the end of the day

  • Assist visitors by fielding general questions, providing basic assistance and redirecting them to appropriate staff when needed

  • Screen incoming calls and messages, reply to messages as requested

  • Manage the phone system, including updates for the general message

  • Distribute paperwork, checks or information to participants as requested by direct-service staff

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of staff schedules, contact information and appointments

  • Assist with administrative tasks as time allows

Qualifications:

  • A desire to serve refugees and immigrants in support of the mission of World Relief

  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills

  • Capability to multi-task and balance multiple responsibilities

  • Good oral and written communication in English

  • Knowledge of a second language a plus

  • Good computer knowledge, including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel, and the ability to learn new programs

  • Self-motivated worker with the ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and complete required tasks on time

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people

  • Flexibility and the ability to learn quickly in a fast paced work environment

  • Ability to communicate the work and mission of World Relief to visitors

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service required; previous customer service experience a plus

Location: World Relief Seattle at 841 Central Ave N. Suite C-106 Kent, WA 98032

Shifts: Either half-day or full-day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9am – 4pm. Friday 9am – 3pm. You must commit to a half/full-day shift once a week.

All volunteers are required to attend a volunteer training, complete an application, and undergo a background checks before starting. At the training you will learn about World Relief's work, the refugees and immigrants we serve, and what it looks like to come alongside them as volunteers in different roles
