Position Description

The Health & Wellness / Next Gen Programs Manager will oversee intensive and extended case management programs for refugees and asylees, as well as WRS’s growing Next Gen program, including the development of an early childhood education initiative and refugee youth summer camp. S/he will participate in the WRS Leadership Team and will directly supervise Health and Wellness Caseworkers and the Next Gen Coordinator.

Responsibilities

Intensive Case Management

  • Oversee intensive case management programs Preferred Communities (PC) and PRIME to ensure compliance and success for the refugees we serve
  • Provide new and ongoing training so that staff are well-trained in programmatic requirements in order to ensure compliance with their respective guidelines
  • Oversee all outcomes and billing for PRIME
  • Ensure all self-sufficiency workshops for PRIME are planned for the fiscal year and adequate pre/post tests are designed and implemented
  • Ensure that enrollment goals for PC / PRIME are met
  • Ensure case files have all necessary documentation and that case notes describe all essential areas of resettlement and demonstrate progress towards self-sufficiency
  • Meet with program participants as needed to hear their concerns and questions
  • Handle ORR, DSHS, Washington State, and internal monitoring / audits by Home Office
  • As available, oversee PRIME supplemental housing fund disbursement
  • Submit monthly and annual reports
  • Submit annual proposal and budget
  • Oversee intensive case management program Preferred Communities (PC) to ensure compliance and success for the refugees we serve

Next Gen Program

  • Drive youth programming, establish goals, and track outcomes 
  • Oversee changes to Next Gen program as described in strategic plan
  • Communicate with grant writer to secure additional funding for Next Gen program and meet with donors for Next Gen program
  • Cultivate potential new partners that might donate money, time, or resources to NextGen
  • Complete reports as needed to program donors

Management Tasks

  • Maintain close communication with Resettlement, Employment, English, and Outreach Teams in order to coordinate effective services
  • Attend South King County Council of Human Services meetings (and others as needed) to network and build relationship with other service providers 
  • Maintain relationships with program partners; i.e. school districts, Public Health
  • Directly supervise Health and Wellness Caseworkers, Financial Literacy AmeriCorps Member, and Next Gen Coordinator  
  • Alongside other supervisors, complete proposal, evaluations, reports for AmeriCorps
  • Cover for staff during busy periods and vacations

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year working with Preferred Communities, PRIME, or other intensive case management program required
  • Desire to serve refugees in support of the overall mission of World Relief
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects at one time
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Intermediate computer knowledge, including MS Office and the ability to learn new programs (previous experience with databases desired)
  • Previous cross-cultural experience required 
  • Flexibility and desire to learn and serve others
  • Self-motivated worker with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Dependable and consistent in attendance and performance
  • Ability to work well as part of and team and with diverse groups of people
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of refugee languages preferred
