World Relief is an international Christian relief and development organization whose US arm represents one of the largest refugee and immigrant-serving ministries in the Unites States with offices in 20 US cities. The Seattle office is one of the largest, with a varietyP of holistic programs serving newly-arrived refugees and immigrants.
World Relief Seattle (WRS) seeks outstanding candidates for this important position to advance the cause of helping immigrants and refugees rebuild their lives in our community.
Help guide all outreach initiatives that activate the local community to come alongside refugee and other vulnerable immigrant communities with care and empowerment.
- Help World Relief Seattle move progressively toward the vision of seeing all Refugees and Immigrants Welcomed by Community, Rooted in Community, & Empowered for Community
- Manage a team of 6 volunteer coordinators who work with both refugees, vulnerable immigrants, and 900+ local volunteers to build mutually transformative relationships
- Reach out to area churches and the general public to communicate the mission of World Relief and mobilize them for volunteerism, fundraising and advocacy.
- Maintain regular communication with church and community partners
- Conduct ongoing partner, updates, appreciation, and recognition.
- Maintain up-to-date records of partnership information and activities; enter data regularly into database.
- Guide Outreach Team meetings and promotional activities, engaging potential supporters in the ministry of World Relief Seattle
- Lead the Detention Center ministry and services program at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, WA
- Help coordinate services between direct service staff, volunteers, and outreach staff.
- Develop relationships that secure financial, in-kind, and social capital resources from churches, and individuals to programs that empower vulnerable communities
- Responsible for raising a portion of the church giving goal
- Lead or assist in fundraising/friendraising events including SEA TRI KAN, STP, 5k, Gala, Volunteer Appreciation event, etc.
- Coordinate outward communication to newcomer communities and the general public via online and print publication
- Public speaking and teaching with and on behalf of refugees and immigrants
Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
- A desire to serve Jesus Christ in ministering to refugees, volunteers, and churches.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Advanced problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects at one time as well as strong data management skills.
- Intermediate computer knowledge, including MS Office and the ability to learn new programs.
- Flexibility in schedule and a desire to learn.
- Current driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.
- Previous supervisory experience and/or experience in program oversight strongly preferred.
- Volunteer management experience highly desirable.
- Experience working or volunteering with refugee populations a plus.
- Master’s Degree and/or knowledge of a second language a plus.
