World Relief Seattle exists to empower the local Church to serve the most vulnerable. World Relief Seattle is committed to high standards in serving our refugee and immigrant clients to achieve their goals in reaching self-sufficiency.  The state programs specialist is instrumental in assessing client needs and enrolling them in the correct state funded programs as well as providing on-going follow up and support to make sure clients achieve high levels of success.  The state program specialist is also responsible for documenting client data to meet reporting guidelines for state grants.

Essential duties and responsibilities

State Programs Specialist will be responsible for, including but not limited to:

·         Reviewing potential participant eligibility in state funded employment or ESL (English as a Second Language) programs for refugee or immigrant clients

·         Completing a thorough assessment and enrolling participants in appropriate programs

·         Schedule and conduct on-going review and follow-up meetings with clients

·         Clearly communicate with participants regarding program requirements

·         Documenting and maintaining data and creating files for all relevant program information using internal database and State sponsored database (eJAS)

·         Collaborating with members of the employment team and state programs team to ensure client participation and reporting

·         Ensure job class attendance is recorded and reported in database (eJAS)

·         Collect job logs and ensure completion by participants

·         Track ESL participant pre and post test results and update results on database (eJAS)

·         Collecting data for monthly billing

·         Providing contact with DSHS to address issues of client participation or technical issues

Minimum requirements

·         A desire to serve refugees and immigrants in support of the mission of World Relief

·         Desire to support participants who are English language learners and/or seeking basic skills;

·         Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds

·         Proficient in  MS Word, Excel and ability to learn and utilize new software

·         Ability to communicate well in written and oral English

·         Excellent customer service skills;

·         Able to work independently and as a member of a team;

·         Ability to prioritize and organize workload;

·         Ability to manage time to meet deadlines

·         Knowledge of a second language a plus
